World Endurance Racer Damian Cudlin has given thanks to his sponsors and supporters who carried him to 3rd in the World Championship standings in 2007. The young Aussie from Taree New South Wales spent the year in Austria, living close to his Yamaha Austria Racing Teams workshop. In the small quiet town of Heimschuh, Cudlin kept busy teaching Race Schools for Moto-Academy and working as a Barman at a local pub ‘Route69’. In what Damian described as a “Roller coaster ride” 2007 certainly tried the patience of the YART squad with technical problems taking them out of the running in many races during the year. However Cudlin and team mates Igor Jerman and Steve Martin recovered a seemingly doomed season with 2 podium finishes towards the end, lifting them to 3rd in the series.
On the eve of returning home to Australia for the off season, Cudlin thanked all the people who’d been a part of his 2007 campaign. “It’s easy to say I wouldn’t be here without these peoples support this year and not mean it, but I do.” Cudlin explained. “It’s been hard making ends meat, just enough to pay the rent, let alone put a World Championship shot together, but we didn’t give up. The support I’ve had from Joe Rocket once again this year has been fantastic and really kept us afloat. On top of that the people from Route69 and Die Buntmacherei have really made a difference to my season and I appreciate it.” Cudlin continued “This year has had it’s ups and downs but I think we can be proud of what we achieved in the end. I want to also thank each and every member of the YART squad, particularly Mandy, for making my year an enjoyable experience. I hope that we can fight harder for the title next year.” Damian would like to thank the following for making his 2007 season possible- Yamaha Austria Racing Team, Joe Rocket & Mat Mladin Imports, Shoei Helmets, Virdatum, Route69, Die Buntmacherei, Dirk Benkert, Moto-Academy. |
